(Bahay dress fashion)
I like walking around the house barefooted and in my most gula-gulanit daster. Even Edmund does the same thing. He likes wearing his worn-out sando even if he has newer ones in the cabinet. He’s like my father too, butas-butas na yung sando, yun pa ang favorite nya.

I actually have 3 new dasters I bought from TJ Maxx. Pero the fabrics are made of t-shirt like material. It hugs on my sexy body, nakakasuka. Pang bedroom lang, hindi pang ballroom.

Lately, I’ve been finding myself in a sort of panic, when I realize we have guests at home. Bigla na lang paglingon, “Hi tita”. Oyen’s boyfriend, Derrick, would be here. Eh naka samburay ang buhok ko at ang daster ko eh ka nipis nipis from years of washing, kita large intestines ko. Sometimes naman, my son’s girlfriend would drop by “Hi tita”. Eto na naman ako, naka daster na parang 5 years old, pwede na akong pang ilalim ng tulay sa Aurora Blvd, yung mga namamalimos.

This morning Oyen informed me she’s going to the exhibit with Derrick. I said “are you going to pick him up?” “Oh no mom, he’s coming here”. “What time anak?” “10:30” It’s 10:30! Oh my God I have to change my daster kasi manipis nga.

Oyen——“Mom, I think you should have a more presentable bahay dress. You’ve been getting visitors, like Derrick and Mela”.

I actually have thought of that. I realized oo nga, my kids are grown ups and they bring guests over without sufficient notice, not even a minute for me to run to my bathroom and change. Before I knew it “hi tita”.

I bought a fabric from Megamall. It’s cotton and made in Japan daw. I asked talaga kasi baka China. I paid P200 to the modista in Tagaytay to sew it. Supposedly 250 but she gave me a loyal customer discount.

O eto na, my newest and more presentable daster, bahay dress as my daughter calls it. Reding-redi for those unexpected “hi tita” moments.

  1. Ganyan din po ang fashion ko sa bahay. Kaya minsan pag may mangangatok at manghihingi ng kung ano anong donation, sabi ko na lang, “wala po yung amo ko eh.” Hehe.

  2. Same here! I have this favorite college shirt that is super torn already. I made sure I had it packed and brought with me even after getting married. Ayun bawal ang unexpected guests if not tatakbo talaga ko to change. 🙂
