Chinese New Year in Manila

I arrived back in Manila on Feb 10 and had no time to plan, invite, host a Chinese New Year dinner with friends. We didn’t even get to have dinner on February 14 because I got dizzy. Feb 15 was a busy day for me, luncheon meeting with the Women Business Council and two other meetings after that.
I did manage to make a quick trip to the grocery to buy some apples, grapes and tiny ponkan oranges to decorate our dining table.

I also hung some old Chinese lanterns for decor. We didn’t have fireworks display or at least the traditional sawa. I also didn’t prepare noche buena. It was a quiet evening, my husband went to bed early as usual, my daughter went to have dinner at a friend’s house, and me, in my daster here at home.

Some neighbors had fireworks but in general it was a quiet night.

I left all the lights on to welcome the lucky angel. I went to bed praying and hoping that the angel of goodness, good health, happiness and prosperity enters our home.
