PAL Flight to the US Sept 5, 2017

Yen and I were very busy and still have many pending works and activities in Manila but we dropped everything to fly to the US on September 5, 2017 to attend the wedding of my nephew.

I bought a pack of dried mango coated with dark chocolate at the Duty Free shop in Manila for US$38+. I used my American Express card so that the bill is dollar to dollar. If pesos kasi, naku sobrang taga naman itong mga credit card companies na ito. Imagine, they will most likely bill me at P53 – P54 to a $. Some banks are too creative. They will convert into pesos at P53 – P54 then convert it back to dollars. Doble ang tubo.

I ate lugaw and hainan chicken rice at the lounge, both chicken and to think that 3 x a week Antonia cooks tinolang manok and adobong manok. As if I am not yet sick of eating chicken.

Three flights were delayed including ours because the planes just landed.

When I came back to Manila last July 19, I was 122 lbs. A week later my weight went up to 124 lbs. Before leaving our house for the airport, I weighed myself, I was 128 lbs. After eating all this PAL food, I would be 130 lbs. before landing.

The flight was turbulent most of the time. An hour after taking off, the shaking started. At first I took half Bonamine to calm me down and make me sleepy. But I was too scared to sleep. I was also not in the mood to watch any movie. I looked around for a guy I could cling on but they were all taken.
Ang duwag ko talaga. My daughter left her seat and checked on me. Kasi daw she knew I would be scared. Baligtad, yung anak pa ang nag che-check sa nanay. After several hours, I took the other remaining half Bonamine and this made me sleep even if the plane was shaking. The seat belt sign was on most of the time. Buti na lang my seat was nearest to the toilet. I would run to the toilet as soon as the pilot switched off the seat belt sign. But even before I could pee, the shaking would start again and the seatbelt sign would be on again. I am not kidding, I called on 105 saints to keep us safe. If you are wondering bakit ang dami naman, I know them well, close kami ano. What I usually do is to start with saints whose names begin with letter A: Saint Anne, Saint Anthony, Saint Alicia, Saint Aida, Saint Bernard, Saint Bernadette, Saint Cecilia, Saint Clement, Saint Christopher, Saint Daniel, Saint David, Saint Elizabeth, and so on….

I woke up in the middle of the flight and the stewardess asked me if I wanted lugaw or something else. I chose arroz caldo, as always.

Three hours before landing, I couldn’t find my iPad. I asked for the young flight attendant’s help. He couldn’t find it. When he went to get a bigger flashlight, I used my celphone’s flashlight and in just a few seconds, I found my iPad resting in between the seat frame and the foam. The flight attendant was able to reach it with his hands.

Two hours before touch down, eating time again. We were served a hearty breakfast.

I chose salmon omelet.

The purser went around giving one piece of Cebu Best mango chocolate coins to the passengers in our cabin. I asked for one more. She gave me two more.
