Golden State Warriors Parade

Tyempo. Edmund and I were here again when the Golden State Warriors took back their NBA Championship from the Cleveland Cavaliers. In 2015 we arrived the night before the parade. Perfect timing. Today naman, Edmund’s taking the evening flight back to Manila. Even if his schedule was tight, he went to see Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry and just to share in the festivity. Masaya.

We already anticipated that there would be a long line at the train station so we bought our tickets at 10:30 pm the night before.

350,000 Warrior fans took the train to watch the parade in Oakland.

We woke up early, didn’t eat breakfast. The parade would start at 10 am, by 9:30 am we arrived in Oakland by train.

I thought there were more people this year than in 2015.

Edmund told me to stay close to him because it would be difficult to look for me. E—“Tart, wag kang lalayo, ang taas mo pa naman, madali kang makita. At lahat dito naka blue t-shirt. Baka mamaya may hawak na akong banner, “missing wife”.

We were getting high while waiting for the parade. So many people were smoking marijuana. We didn’t know where to stand because anywhere we go, it smelled pot. Before Curry comes, baka durog / bangag (high) na ako.

$5 for one salty hotdog wrapped with bacon.

There were enterprising men selling Warriors merchandises such as cheaper t-shirts, flags, caps, banners.

After the parade, they popped the balloons one by one.

Delivering happiness, that’s sweet.

Wilton Norman Chamberlain or Wilt Chamberlain, 7 ft. and 1″ tall, was a legendary American basketball player. He also played for the LA Lakers,
and Warriors. He passed away in 1999 at the age of 63.

Every time I see the Lucky logo I miss my parents.

The past NBA Championship trophies were also paraded.

It was nice to see the whole community gathered together showing support for their team.
I was so amazed at how long the Oakland fire truck is. I couldn’t capture the whole length. Ang haba. Tila tatlong truck ang haba.

Many of these players were not here in the 2015 parade. Maybe the Golden State Warriors replaced some of their players and recruited new ones.

Among all the players, Draymond Green was the only one who chose to leave the comforts of the double decker bus and instead walked to the delight of the crowds.

Adults and kids alike were getting and playing with the blue, white and yellow confetti.

Me included

I never experienced sitting on the road or playing with confetti or freely watching street parade when I was small, and even when I was already in my teens. I wasn’t allowed by my parents.

Nike’s Debate This commercial or advertisement written in the clouds was so cool. Edmund and I were trying to figure out how the small plane was able to do that.
