Happy Birthday Sister

Just like the hundreds or maybe thousands of people in the US who lost their real estate investments during the economic crash in the US, my sister’s bets lost too. Encouraged by the boom in real estate, she also ventured into the fray together with thousands of home owners. But instead of boom, it went kaboom. Months of sleepless nights and gloomy days for many who invested their home equities hoping the number of their homes would multiply.
Many lost their jobs and properties too. Ganun naman talaga ang buhay, tumataya tayo believing that our investment would churn in some positive income. Not always that our ideas succeed. Some don’t. And sometimes the losses could be huge. Big bet, huge loss.

My sister lost a lot too. But it was just a temporary setback. With God’s blessings, she’s back on track. She has learned a painful lesson and I hope she doesn’t lose sight of the fact that investing aggressively in real estate has its own risks. Or investing in anything for that matter. It has great rewards but always be mindful of the risks. If you can take a hit while still standing in case the market collapse, then go ahead.

Wishing my sister a very happy birthday. You are such a caring and loving sister. Thank you for saving my life when my sweater caught fire. I was glad you were around when it happened or else baka mukha na akong chicken inasal. You are one of my guardian angels.
