My new friend Nurse Brenda

I have made friends with at least a dozen people during my two weeks stay here in Las Vegas, more than the number of people I’ve met in California. In the past year, I don’t think I gained one single friend living in California. Although Yen lives in North Cal, we met here in Vegas.

I rode the Uber from Bally’s to Spring Valley yesterday. The driver’s name is Brenda and she’s a nurse at the UMC Trauma Center in Charleston. And why is she driving the Uber? She said her duty is from 4 am to 12 noon. After that, she has nothing to do. She doesn’t want to go home because she’ll get bored. Her two kids are now in college, one is taking up Nursing at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. The other one is also in college in Utah. Her husband is an executive at the New York New York Hotel and Casino.

She doesn’t drive Uber every day, she just does it part time whenever she wants to. She’ll get bored doing nothing she says. She has a different car for Uber and a nicer one for herself alone.

The two of us kind of hit it off. She and I will drive to Utah to visit her son and stop by at nice places along the way. Her husband also plays golf and the two of us could hang out in the golf course while our husbands play together. She doesn’t gamble. She likes to go to the premium outlet which is near the hospital where she works at. She loves Kate Spade. We agreed to shop together next time I come for a visit. I do like shopping at the premium outlets in any country and city I visit. I am not a Kate Spade girl but I don’t mind going inside their shops. I might find something cute for my daughter or even for myself. Being a nurse makes her aware of healthy eating so she tries to eat salad all the time. We can go to Pho together, that’s healthy right?
