We are keeping ourselves busy while following the stay-at-home order and hiding from the virus.

My dear husband busies himself by doing what he enjoys doing—  gardening and playing golf in a tiny patch of green in our backyard.  By the time this shelter in place ends, he would have perfected his pitching.

To keep her busy, Oyen has been baking delicious dinner rolls, lemon- kalamansi pie, chocolate chip cookies. and has perfected the banana bread. She also made her favorite Japanese dumplings called gyoza. Her attempt to make pandesal was half successful. At least they looked like pandesal.

Her first attempt at dinner rolls was good too.  They tasted like pandesal but they looked like dinner rolls.

The first two  lemon / kalamansi pies were delicious considering that it  was made by a neophyte pastry baker.

The third attempt was not as successful.  Pwede na Pie.

The pie was still good but….Naubos rin naman. Who ate the whole pan? The father. I told him when he signed my daughter’s birth certificate, attached to it was a vow that he would eat whatever this girl would cook or bake.

I am busy too. I no longer write on my appointments diary a to do list to remind me of what I am going to do the next day because it is just the same as what I did today and yesterday— Laundry, Cooking, Eating, Sleeping, Watching TV/movies.

It doesn’t matter anymore what day it is unlike in the past when every Friday, Monday, Sunday, is looked forward to.  Now,  we lose track of the calendar days.  When neighbors start bringing out those large color coded garbage bins, that’s the only time we become aware of the day,  it’s Wednesday.

And what day is it today?

I am hoping that today is the day we can now all go out, look up to the sky, breathe easy and freely.
